Present

NFUDEE enrolls students into the group of  four-year system and two-year system, and one graduate school (Master Program) classes in academic year 2010-2011. In the course scheme, three directions are emphasized to conform with the demand of industry in semiconductor, color imaging, digital content and biotechnology, and integrate the professionals of communication industry: (1) integrated circuit design and manufacture: VLSI design, semiconductor device, digital IC model and manufacture, embedded system and integrated circuit manufacture. (2) microelectronic and photo-electricity engineering: electronics, circuit theory, semiconductor physics, introduction to optoelectronic and microwave optoelectronic semiconductor. (3) communication system: communication electronics, signals and systems, communication system, digital signal processing, digital communication and communication electronics practice; the design principle of course is to consider the practice, continuity and connection and strengthen student practice. To cultivate students that have innovative thinking ability, in accord with the demands of the scientific and technological information industry. The educational goal is to cultivate professionals as follows; the planning of courses in NFUDEE is concluded by the course and teaching committee, propose the course committee of school and then implement that can divide into three directions:

I. Integrated circuit design and manufacture

Cultivate the relevant industry personnel who have practical ability in semiconductor and integrated circuit. The key point of course planning lies in strengthening the professional knowledge and ability of the electronic circuit and system design. Develop professional knowledge and ability in relevant industry using semiconductor manufacture, digital/analog integrated circuit and system design, integrated circuit testing, computer-aided circuit design and system-on-chip design.

II. Microelectronic and optoelectronic engineering

Cultivate the relevant industry personnel who have practical abilitysignboard in microelectronic and optoelectronic engineering. The key point of course planning lies in strengthening the professional knowledge and ability of the signals and systems and digital signal processing design. Develop professional knowledge and ability in relevant industry using, such as research and development of digital signal processor, digital signal processing chip design, speech signal processing, digital image processing and research and development of speech recognition chip.

III. Communication system

Cultivate the relevant industry personnel who have practical ability in communication engineering. The key point of course planning lies in strengthening the professional knowledge and ability of the digital/analog communication principle and mobile telecommunication technique. Develop professional knowledge and ability in relevant industry using, such as wireless communication system, microwave communication, microwave integrated circuit design, high-frequency circuit design, optical fiber communication systems and research and development of cable system.

The condition of course planning cooperate with cultivating goals

The course plan in NFUDEE refer to the developing teacherfeatures, available teachers and equipment, and middle-term, long-term projects, concluded by the course and teaching committee. To produce graduates with excellent performance in academic subjects, but also with skilled practical experiences. Practical monographic topics for compulsory subjects; the practical monographic topics in the four-year system which start at second term of junior and last three terms, in order to strengthen students’ practical ability and fulfill the spirit of vocational education. Cooperation with the “last one mile” teaching proposed by the Ministry of Education, expecting students to understand the current job market in the external world. NFUDEE plans the lecture of “moral in job market”, inviting the experts and scholars to present a speeches to introduce necessary of job market and share with experiences. In recent years, it is blooming development in communication and semiconductor industry in our country, the demand of professionals is urgent, NFU cultivate graduates who have specialty in semiconductor and communication engineering that makes prospect industry hire them.

Operation

Formulation of courses each year in NFUDEE compares the course standard of vocational colleges domestically and internationally, considering the diversification of entering school today. Students often have different professional backgrounds. Thus, NFUDEE attaches importance to the professional basic courses in arranging courses for students that already have relevant professional knowledge to strengthen their basic professional knowledge. It will set good foundation for advanced study in the future for those students that do not have relevant professional knowledge. Learning from the basic level will reduce study frustration. The compulsory/elective courses offered by NFUDEE, can be adjusted by the course and teaching committee every term, to ensure the practicability of the courses. We expect to respond to the demand of industry in time and increase student competitiveness.

Teaching

Courses establishment in NFUDEE not only gives consideration to industry demand and also looks after advanced academic research according to the direction of course planning in NFUDEE. It provides three group courses on integrated circuit design and manufacture, microelectronic and electro-optical engineering and communication systems. Students major in the course of their interest and are offered relative courses that enable them to gain understanding through comprehensive subject study.

The total credits of courses and the suitability in every year system credit

Special topic

Every year system awards credit according to the Ministry of Education standard. Graduation credit is respectively as: four-year system 132 credits, two-year system 72 credits. Courses are formulated and revised according to the course revise criterion in NFUDEE. It emphasizes the professional basic course in the previous two years of the four-year system and the first year of the two-year system. There are total hours of compulsory course every week. The later two years of the four-year system and the second year of the two-year system emphasize application, advanced professional knowledge and a graduation project. To encourage diversified choices to match the student’s personal interest, the compulsory credits are as few as possible.
